In a surprising partnership that challenges conventional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Revealed

According to the official announcement, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The storyline features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden group.

The mission centers on "bizarre trials and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Content

Players who finish the mission will receive an special katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Update

This release also brings the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Partnerships

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
